NICHOLAS MORGAN GREGORY SENTENCED IN FELIXSTOWE AND IPSWICH FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES

In a disturbing case that has once again highlighted the ongoing issue of child exploitation, Nicholas Morgan, also known by the alias Nicholas Gregory, has been sentenced to prison for serious offenses involving the possession and distribution of indecent images of children. The case unfolded in the towns of Felixstowe and Ipswich, where Morgan’s criminal activities spanned several years and involved multiple identities.

On September 2015, Morgan, residing on Blyford Way in Felixstowe, was handed a 10-month prison term by Ipswich Crown Court after he pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children. The investigation revealed that the images and videos involved in his offenses numbered over 900, showcasing a disturbing collection of child pornography. This conviction marked a significant development in Morgan’s criminal history, which has been marked by previous convictions and violations.

It was revealed that Morgan, aged 46 at the time, had previously been convicted in April 2004 under the surname Gregory. His earlier conviction stemmed from a heinous crime involving sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl, along with the possession of a vast library of child abuse images. For these offenses, he was sentenced to five years in prison. During that trial, Judge Peter Thompson described the images as “sadistic and painful activities for the children involved,” emphasizing the gross nature of the crimes.

Further details of Morgan’s criminal record show that he initially denied the allegations, claiming to be “flabbergasted” by the accusations. However, he later admitted to indecently assaulting the 13-year-old girl and taking indecent photographs of her, as well as possessing images of a much younger girl. Police discovered a total of 2,327 pornographic images of children across three of his computers, including some at the most serious levels of indecency.

In the recent case, authorities uncovered evidence linking Morgan to the distribution of child pornography through online forums. A web message board was accessed where photographs were exchanged for videos, with the alias “Tommy Tucker” used by the suspect. Investigators traced the IP address used to access the forum back to Morgan’s residence, leading to a search warrant executed on July 16 of the previous year. During the raid, officers seized a laptop, a disk, and a storage unit, all containing child pornography, including 17 movies classified as Level A, the most severe category of indecent images.

Following his latest conviction, Morgan was also subjected to a sexual harm prevention order that will remain in effect indefinitely. Additionally, he is required to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for a period of ten years. These measures underscore the seriousness of his offenses and the ongoing threat he poses to the community.

In sentencing, Judge Thompson highlighted the severity of Morgan’s actions, noting that the images involved “sadistic and painful activities for the children involved,” and emphasized the gross nature of the crimes. The court’s decision reflects the gravity of the offenses committed in Felixstowe and Ipswich, and the need for continued vigilance against such offenders. The police and prosecution have expressed their commitment to ensuring that individuals like Morgan are held accountable and kept away from the community to prevent further harm.
