NERWICK GRANGE SENTENCED IN DARLINGTON FOR ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRL

Nerwick Grange, a 41-year-old man from Darlington, has been convicted and sentenced to four years in prison following a disturbing case of child abuse that spanned several years. The case came to light after the brave young girl, who was the victim, managed to secretly record one of the incidents on her mobile phone, providing critical evidence that ultimately led to Grange's arrest and prosecution.

During the court proceedings at Teesside Crown Court, it was revealed that Grange attempted to coerce the girl into performing sexual acts while he was residing in Darlington. Despite his denial of the charges, the court found him guilty of causing or inciting the girl to engage in sexual activity. He was acquitted of the three counts of sexual assault he faced, but the conviction for inciting sexual activity was upheld.

In addition to the prison sentence, the court imposed a restraining order to prevent Grange from making any contact with the victim. Furthermore, he was placed on the sex offenders’ register for life and subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which explicitly prohibits him from having any contact with children under the age of 16. These measures are designed to protect the community and prevent any further harm.

The victim, who has shown remarkable resilience despite her trauma, shared her emotional response to the case. She expressed that the trauma inflicted by Grange is not just a fleeting memory but a lifelong burden that continues to affect her relationships and mental health. She stated, “The trauma inflicted on me is not just a moment in time, but a lifetime burden that will always affect me and all my relationships. However, I will try to heal as best I can for the younger me. I tell people I’m okay, but I’m not. My childhood has been taken away from me due to the actions of Rob. All my good memories are now shadowed with the bad. I feel like I’ve had to mentally mature faster due to what I was subjected to by him. I want Rob to know exactly what he has done to me and the trauma he has caused me. He knows exactly what he has done, and it will haunt me for the rest of my life. I will use my experience to better other people. I want to spread awareness and help anyone who has or is going through what I have endured.”

Grange’s sentencing and the protective measures reflect the seriousness of the crimes committed and the court’s commitment to safeguarding vulnerable individuals in Darlington and beyond.
