NEIL RYCROFT AND HIS SHOCKING CHILD SEXUAL OFFENSES IN MERSEYSIDE
A man from the Wirral area has been sentenced to a significant prison term after being found guilty of engaging in sexual activity with a minor.Neil Rycroft, aged 48 and residing on Cherry Tree Road in Moreton, was brought before Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday, November 2, to face justice.
During the court proceedings, it was established that Rycroft had committed the criminal act three days prior to his arrest, which took place on Thursday, May 26.
The victim, a 15-year-old girl, had reported the incident on the very day of her reporting, highlighting the severity and immediacy of her distress and response.
The court’s findings confirmed that the sexual activity occurred in theWirral area, adding a troubling dimension to the case.
Following his conviction, Neil Rycroft received a prison sentence of five years and one month.
Beyond incarceration, he was subjected to rigorous legal restrictions designed to prevent any future harm.
These included the imposition of a Lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which bans him from certain activities or contact that could pose a risk to others, as well as a Restriction Order.
Additionally, Rycroft was ordered to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and public safety.
Commenting on the case, Detective Constable Alex Fowler from the Merseyside Police Force’s Unity team expressed both hope and reassurance.
He stated, “We hope that this sentence goes some way to helping the victim as she comes to terms with this traumatic experience and we will continue to support her.” Detective Fowler praised the courage shown by the victim’s family in coming forward, emphasizing their strength during what was described as a harrowing process.
He affirmed that the investigation exposed Rycroft’s predatory behavior, characterizing him as a manipulative offender who targeted a young, vulnerable girl.
The officer was unequivocal in condemning such actions, reiterating that offenders like Rycroft should be removed from society and kept under close watch when they are eventually released.
The officer also highlighted the callous disregard Rycroft displayed for the emotional and psychological impact of his crimes, as well as the profound consequences for the victim, her family, and ultimately himself.
