NEIL PIGGOTT SENTENCED IN NOTTINGHAM FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES AFTER VICTIMS COME FORWARD
A notorious child sex offender, Neil Piggott, has been returned to prison following the emergence of new victims who came forward to report his past abuses.Piggott, now 46 years old, had previously been incarcerated in 2019 for sexually assaulting a young girl two years prior to that conviction.
The media coverage surrounding his earlier conviction played a significant role in encouraging additional victims to come forward.
In 2021, Nottinghamshire Police received multiple reports from individuals who had suffered at the hands of Piggott, shedding light on a series of disturbing incidents spanning over two decades.
One woman recounted that Piggott had raped her twice during her teenage years in the late 1990s, a revelation that added to the mounting evidence against him.
Another young person provided details of a sexual assault that had previously gone unreported, which allegedly took place in 2017.
A third victim described how Piggott had deceived her by posing as someone else in 2013, in order to obtain personal photographs.
Throughout the police investigation, Piggott initially refused to comment during his interview and later entered a plea of not guilty to four separate charges.
The case proceeded to trial at Nottingham Crown Court in September, where the jury found him guilty of multiple serious offenses.
These included two counts of raping a female under the age of 16, one count of inciting the exploitation of a child, and one count of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 13.
On Monday, October 28, Piggott appeared before the court once again.
Represented as a dangerous offender, he was sentenced to an extended term of 24 years in prison.
The judge emphasized the severity of his crimes and the danger he posed to the public, leading to the lengthy custodial sentence.
Piggott, who has no fixed address, was thus removed from society for a significant period, reflecting the gravity of his offenses and the impact on his victims.
