NEIL MONKHOUSE FROM CARLISLE FACES PRISON OVER CHILD INDECENT IMAGES AND DRUGS
In a significant legal development at Carlisle Crown Court, Neil Monkhouse, a 33-year-old resident of Hallin Crescent in Carlisle, was brought before the court facing serious charges related to the possession and distribution of indecent images of children, as well as drug-related offenses.The proceedings revealed a complex case involving multiple counts that could potentially lead to a custodial sentence.
Monkhouse pleaded guilty to six charges in total, which included three counts of creating indecent images of children and three counts of distributing such images.
These offenses occurred over a period stretching from February 6 to July 12 of the previous year.
However, it was noted by his legal representative that the distribution of these images took place over a concentrated period of approximately one week in early July.
The court was informed that the images involved the most serious category, Category A, which signifies the highest level of severity.
The evidence presented indicated that Monkhouse had created a total of 28 indecent images and distributed 39 others.
The charges also included possession of a total of 49 indecent photographs of children, highlighting the extent of his alleged involvement in such illicit material.
Beyond the charges related to indecent images, Monkhouse admitted to producing cannabis during the period from July 1 to July 12 of the previous year.
Additionally, he was found to be in possession of a Class B drug on July 11, further complicating his legal situation.
These drug-related offenses add a significant dimension to the case, emphasizing the range of criminal activities he is accused of.
As the case was adjourned for sentencing, which is scheduled for February 16, Monkhouse was granted bail under strict conditions.
He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register, a requirement that underscores the gravity of the charges against him.
During the hearing, Recorder Julie Clemitson issued a stern warning, stating, “You should prepare yourself for the possibility of a custodial sentence,” indicating that the court is considering a prison term depending on the outcome of the upcoming sentencing hearing.
