February 2017 Serial paedophile, 51, is branded ‘a menace to young girls’ An already convicted paedophile who pinched an 11-year-old’s bottom as she watched a magic show at Hamleys toy shop was branded a ‘menace to young girls’ as he was jailed for nearly six years. Neil Cuthbertson, 51, groped the youngster as she stood with her mother and sister in the busy children’s store before she turned around when she thought it was ‘weird’. The serial child sex offender quickly whipped his hand away and fled the world famous shop in London’s Regent Street, but was captured on CCTV. The Old Bailey heard his young victim was left ‘confused and upset’ following the attack on 8 November 2015. In a victim impact statement read out in court, her mum said: ‘Since the assault she sometimes has difficulty falling asleep, I often find her in tears. ‘She told me she can’t stop thinking about what happened, saying, “I can’t get that man out of my head”.’ Cuthbertson was arrested a year after the Hamleys attack following a further assault on an eight-year-old girl in the aisle of Waitrose supermarket in Westfield shopping centre on 28 November last year. Police discovered footage of children ice skating at a public rink on his smartphone. Prosecutor Eloise Emanuel said the offences were aggravated by the location, adding: ‘Certainly in regards to Hamleys, that is choosing to go to a store where children are going to be.’ Jailing Cuthbertson for a total of 69 months, Judge John Bevan told him: ‘You are menace, unfortunately, to young girls… you didn’t go to Hamleys toy shop by accident, you went there on purpose.’ The judge added: ‘You are plainly a man with an appalling record for this sort of thing. ‘It appears you are unable to control yourself and you have no thought for the serious consequences on little girls who are greatly upset by what has happened.’ Cuthbertson, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to sexual assault over the two attacks as well as two charges of breaching a sexual harm prevention order. He received consecutive prison sentences of 15 months for the Hamleys attack, six months for the Waitrose assault, and two 24-month terms for the breaches. June 2003 Snapping Tom jailed A MAN who tried to take photographs of naked young girls using a mobile phone camera was jailed for six years. Neil David Cuthbertson, aged 37, of Beckenham Road, Beckenham, pointed his miniature camera underneath the changing room partitions at the Spa, in Beckenham Road, Beckenham. He was sentenced last week in Croydon Crown Court after denying attempting to take indecent photographs of a 12-year-old girl, on October 16. Police said Cuthbertson was on the sex offenders’ register at the time of his arrest.
