CARLISLE SEX OFFENDER DEFIES ORDER WITH SECRET PHONES CAUGHT AFTER POLYGRAPH TEST
A Carlisle-based sex offender, Neil Anthony Perrett, aged 65, was involved in a case where he was convicted of attempting to sexually communicate with a child and was subject to a five-year sexual harm prevention order.
Despite this, he later flouted his order by secretly using a phone, including one hidden under his kitchen sink, which he did not disclose to authorities.
Police investigations revealed he had accessed a social media account linked to him for 36 days, breaching the restrictions of his order.
During court proceedings, Perrett admitted to violating the order and failing to register his online activity within the required timeframe.
His defense lawyer, David Wales, criticized the use of polygraph tests in the case, calling them a 'stain on the criminal justice system.' The court adjourned sentencing until August 4 for further assessment, and Perrett was granted unconditional bail until that date.
