CORNWALL TAKEAWAY OWNER JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRL

A Cornwall takeaway owner named Necip Uslu, aged 45, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after being found guilty of multiple sexual offences, including rape and assault, against a young girl. The offences occurred when the victim was under 13 years old. Uslu, who owns Kernow Takeaway in Redruth and resides on Fore Street, denied all charges but was convicted following a jury trial at Truro Crown Court. During court proceedings, the victim gave a powerful impact statement, expressing her fear and describing how his actions have left a permanent mark on her. She stated, "I couldn't feel safe," and that she was living in constant fear of further harm, adding, "He would rape me again." The judge described the abuse as "systematic" and "appalling," emphasizing that the harm Uslu caused will affect the victim for the rest of her life. Uslu was sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment plus an additional year on licence, with a requirement to sign the Sex Offenders' Register for life. The police officer, Detective Constable Joanna De Seta, commended the bravery of the victim in supporting the case and highlighted the significant impact of the abuse on her life and education. Uslu, a Turkish national who moved to Cornwall over 25 years ago, showed no remorse during sentencing. Authorities reaffirm their commitment to investigating and prosecuting sexual offences, regardless of when they occurred.
