NEAL HATTON, WARINGTON CHILD RAPIST, SENTENCED TO 21 YEARS IN PRISON

Neal Hatton, a man from Warrington, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of heinous sexual offenses involving a minor. The court proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of abuse that spanned several years, beginning when the victim was still in primary school. Hatton, aged 38 and residing in Vulcan Close, Padgate, was convicted on two counts of rape and nine counts of sexual assault, following a trial at Liverpool Crown Court.

Throughout the trial, the court heard harrowing details of the abuse, which took place in Warrington. The victim, who bravely came forward to recount their experiences, described living in constant fear of Hatton. They recounted how he would threaten to take them to his home and subject them to torture whenever they tried to resist or tell him to stop. Despite their efforts to ignore his advances in hopes of ending the abuse, Hatton’s predatory behavior persisted, escalating over time to include repeated acts of rape and sexual assault.

The victim’s courage in finally confiding in their mother was a turning point in the case. Once the abuse was disclosed, Cheshire Police were immediately notified, leading to Hatton’s arrest. During police questioning, Hatton denied all allegations, attempting to dismiss the accusations. However, the evidence presented during the trial was overwhelming, and the jury ultimately found him guilty of all charges.

Following the verdict, Judge Robert Trevor-Jones sentenced Neal Hatton to 21 years in prison. Additionally, he was given a six-year extension on his license, which will be monitored through an extended licence period. The judge’s decision reflects the severity of the crimes committed and the need to protect the community from further harm.

After the sentencing, Detective Sergeant Ryan Crawford expressed his commendation for the victim’s bravery. He emphasized that Hatton is a clear sexual predator whose actions were solely driven by his own gratification, showing no regard for the well-being of his victim. DS Crawford highlighted that Hatton’s refusal to admit guilt, despite the substantial evidence against him, forced the victim to relive their trauma in court—a process that was undoubtedly difficult.

DS Crawford also stated that the conviction and sentence serve as a form of justice, providing the victim with some closure and ensuring that Hatton will never pose a threat to other children. As part of his sentence, Hatton is required to register as a sex offender and will be subject to a lifelong sexual harm prevention order. The police hope that this case will encourage other victims of sexual abuse to come forward and seek justice, knowing that their courage can lead to meaningful consequences for offenders.
