NATHANIEL LEATHER FROM LUTON JAILED FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND ONLINE CHILD SEXUAL OFFENCES

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Luton, Nathaniel Leather, a 24-year-old man, has been sentenced to a 12-month prison term after being convicted of multiple serious offences related to child exploitation and online misconduct.

Leather's criminal activities included attempting to communicate sexually with a child online, as well as possessing a large collection of over 2,000 images depicting child sexual abuse. The offences were uncovered during a police investigation that revealed the extent of his disturbing online behavior.

According to court records, Leather was found guilty of two counts of trying to engage in sexual communication with a minor, and of attempting to persuade a child to watch a sexual act. Additionally, he faced three counts of possessing indecent images of children, along with possession of an extreme pornographic image. These charges highlight the severity of his actions and the danger posed by his online activities.

Leather had initiated contact with what he believed was the online profile of a young girl. During their interactions, he sent a series of explicit messages and expressed sexual interest in the girl’s eight-year-old sibling. His communications demonstrated a clear intent to exploit and harm minors.

Further investigation revealed that Leather, who worked as a security guard at a local cinema in Luton, had also sent explicit images of his manhood to what he thought was a 14-year-old girl. However, the individual he was communicating with was not a minor but an adult member of the online child protection organization known as ‘Predator Hunters London’. This detail underscores the importance of online vigilance and the risks associated with digital interactions.

Following his arrest, authorities seized Leather’s mobile phone, which was subsequently examined by officers. The forensic analysis uncovered more than 2,000 images, including some classified as the most serious category, depicting the rape and torture of children. These findings paint a grim picture of Leather’s involvement in child exploitation.

As part of his sentencing, Leather, who resides on Hillcroft Close in Luton, will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for a period of five years. This order imposes strict conditions that he must follow after his release from prison, aimed at preventing any further harm and monitoring his activities to protect the community from potential reoffending.
