NORTHWICH MAN HITS AND THREATENS GIRLFRIEND ON CHRISTMAS EVE
A NORTHWICH man hit and then threatened to kill his girlfriend on Christmas Eve, a court heard on Thursday.Nathan Wyche, 20, of Ryder Street, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault by beating when he appeared at Northwich Magistrates' Court.
Catherine Whinchup, prosecuting, told the court Wyche was drunk when he became involved in an argument with his girlfriend of two years at her home in Ollershaw Lane, Marston, on December 24.
She said: "An argument had occurred, initially as a verbal disagreement.
He had been drinking heavily and began swearing." She said he then assaulted her, hitting her around the head three times before threatening to kill her when her two-year-old son went to bed.
She added: "He said 'wait until Josh goes to bed - I'm going to kill you'." Geoff Fletcher, defending, said Wyche acknowledged the assault was drink related and had sought help with his drinking problem.
He said: "He says he is normally a calm person but when he drinks he becomes a different person." Magistrates told Wyche they considered he had caused serious risk to his partner and her son.
They said the court would be considering a community sentence.
The case was adjourned until February 2.
