July 2019 Serial sex offender already serving 14 years in prison gets another five years A serial sex offender who is already serving a prison sentence of 14 years for serious offences has now been given an extra five years on top of that. He was originally locked up for a catalogue of offences in October last year but the latest five-year jailing will run consecutively to that. On that occasion, Nathan Thompson, 29, formerly of Silversides Lane, Scawby Brook, had denied rape and further offences of sexual assault and harassment. A jury at Grimsby Crown Court found him guilty of rape committed in July 2017. He had denied a total of 10 charges but was found guilty of six, including four of rape, sexual assault and harassment. The latest jailing came on the day that Thompson was due to face another trial, this time for rape and two offences of sexual activity with a child. But he changed his plea to guilty on the rape matter and the prosecution offered no evidence on the other charges. He was ordered to register for life as a sex offender. At the previous hearing last year, the court heard that the rapes had a devastating impact on his victim, who had been forced to move to a new address. Her overall self confidence had been “shattered” and she had been struggling to sleep and had suffered extreme paranoia and nightmares.
