GUERNSEY SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR BREACH OF PROBATION
A sex offender in Guernsey has received a 15-month prison sentence after being found guilty of reaching out to a minor and not informing authorities about his change of address.
Nathan Spicer, aged 21, was convicted in February of indecent assault involving a child.
The judge noted that he posed an "imminent risk of reoffending" and accordingly sentenced him to 15 months behind bars.
He violated his probation terms by failing to notify authorities of his relocation and by making contact with a girl while incarcerated, which he denied.
Upon his release, he was also given an additional three-year probation order.
This case is notable as the first conviction under the new legislation introduced in July concerning violations of sex offender probation conditions.
