NATHAN MCMAHON FROM LARKFIELD ESCAPES JAIL AFTER SEX WITH 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN RAVENSCRAIG STADIUM

In a recent court hearing held at Greenock Sheriff Court, Nathan McMahon, a 19-year-old resident of Larkfield, was convicted of engaging in sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl. The incident took place on June 4 of the previous year within the grounds of Ravenscraig Stadium, a well-known sports venue in the area. At the time of the offense, McMahon was 18 years old, and it was revealed that he had known the young girl for approximately nine months prior to the incident.

Despite the gravity of the crime, McMahon appeared in court and, upon hearing the sentence, displayed a smirk and let out a sigh of relief as he was granted a community payback order along with a year's supervision. His departure from the courtroom was marked by a grin, which drew attention and raised questions about his attitude towards the proceedings.

During the sentencing, McMahon’s legal representative, Ellen Macdonald, provided context to the court, emphasizing that the girl involved was more sexually experienced than McMahon. She stated that in her police interview, the girl openly admitted to prior sexual activity, and clarified that the sexual encounter with McMahon was consensual. Macdonald also pointed out that the police report was initiated at the behest of the girl’s mother, not the girl herself, suggesting a complex background to the case.

It was further explained that McMahon and a friend were with the girl and another young female when they separated into pairs, and that McMahon was the one who initiated kissing her. Macdonald expressed remorse on behalf of her client, asserting that McMahon deeply regrets his actions and accepts full responsibility. She highlighted that this incident has been a life-changing experience for him and noted that he is a first-time offender, describing the situation as a hard-earned lesson.

Prosecutor Emma Jeffrey recounted that the girl confirmed to police that she had been sexually active before the incident and that her encounter with McMahon was her first experience of sexual activity with him. She emphasized that the girl described the act as consensual and expressed her desire not to cause trouble.

In his judgment, Sheriff Derek Hamilton acknowledged the seriousness of the offense but also took into account McMahon’s lack of prior criminal history and the circumstances presented. The sheriff explained that he had considered the arguments on both sides and decided against imprisonment, opting instead for a non-custodial sentence. He noted that this decision would come at some cost but was appropriate given the case details.

As part of his sentence, McMahon has been ordered to complete 225 hours of unpaid community work and will be under supervision for 12 months. Additionally, he will be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for a year and will be reported to Scottish ministers to prevent him from working with children or vulnerable adults, ensuring public safety and compliance with legal restrictions.
