NORTH WALES MAN SENTENCED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE RAMPAGE
A brutal offender, Nathan James Bennett, 28, was imprisoned after a violent attack on his former partner, Sky Ferguson, in Holywell, North Wales.Bennett forcibly entered her home by smashing through the front door glass while she was upstairs sleeping with her young son.
He punched her in the face so hard that her eyelid had to be glued back, then kicked her while she was on the ground.
As he wrecked her home, she managed to escape to her neighbors.
Bennett also attacked her neighbors, smashing their car with a rock and damaging their property.
He admitted three assault charges, four criminal damage charges, theft of a mobile phone, and breaching a restraining order not to approach his ex.
He was sentenced to 27 months in prison at Mold Crown Court.
Sky, a 26-year-old mother, described her ordeal, stating: “Nathan just won’t let me go.” She recounted that despite her efforts to change her phone number and locks, Bennett forced his way in and caused havoc.
She commented: “He was like the Hulk, rampaging through the whole street, attacking me, my neighbors, our homes and cars.” Sky shared her ongoing distress: “Nathan was very romantic and considerate; he bought me lots of teddy bears which I loved.” However, their relationship, which began in 2014 after five years of friendship, turned abusive.
In February 2015, Nathan was convicted of assault after punching Sky during a fight, leading to a jail sentence and a restraining order.
Despite this, he continued to stalk and harass her, following her everywhere, forcing entry, and assaulting her and her neighbors during another attack in August 2016, when he burst into her house and violently assaulted her, causing serious injuries.
When he couldn't find her, he attacked her neighbors instead, causing extensive damage.
During the court hearing in September 2017, Judge Rhys Rowlands condemned his behavior, noting he was already serving a ten-month sentence for street assault.
Bennett was sentenced to an additional 27 months to run consecutively.
Sky described her injuries and the lasting impact, including pain, blurred vision, and extreme anxiety, while her neighbor Miss O’Brien suffered back pain and had to walk with a stick due to her injuries.
She expressed regret that her neighbors were also caught up in the violence, and acknowledged the seriousness of Bennett's actions, which included multiple forms of assault, damage, theft, and breaching court orders.
Her testimony painted a picture of a man who refused to accept the end of their relationship and caused chaos and harm in her community, leaving her permanently scarred both physically and emotionally.
