NATALYA DRAVEN FROM CAMBRIDGE JAILED FOR GROOMING 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN CAMBRIDGE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Natalya Draven, a 50-year-old resident of Cambridge, has been sentenced to prison after engaging in a serious online grooming and exploitation scheme involving a minor. The incident unfolded on the evening of July 20, 2022, when a child protection group challenged Draven on St Andrew’s Street in Cambridge, following months of covert online interactions.
Prior to the confrontation, the child protection organization had been communicating with Draven through Facebook Messenger, where he had adopted the alias Fane Aro Cardei.
Under this false identity, he engaged with what he believed to be a teenage girl, but was in fact an undercover decoy.
Over the course of several months, the group had built a rapport with Draven, who expressed a desire to meet the girl in person and even discussed booking a hotel room for the purpose of having sex.
At approximately 8 pm, the group arranged to meet Draven in St Andrew’s Street, Cambridge.
When he arrived, officers responded swiftly after Draven called emergency services, claiming that he had been assaulted by the group.
This call prompted police to intervene and arrest him on the spot.
During the investigation, authorities discovered that Draven had been actively pursuing a sexual relationship with the decoy, despite being explicitly informed that she was only 13 years old.
He had sent explicit photographs of himself, describing her as “stunningly beautiful,” and had expressed his wish to be her boyfriend.
The contact between Draven and the decoy was documented across 285 screenshots, which revealed detailed conversations from May through July.
These exchanges included plans to meet and even to book a hotel for their encounter.
Further investigations uncovered additional violations of legal obligations.
Draven was found to have failed to notify police within three days of registering the alias Fane Aro Cardei on the Sex Offenders Register, breaching his statutory notification requirements.
When authorities examined his mobile phone and laptop following his arrest, they discovered an indecent video involving a child, adding to the charges against him.
On November 22, at Cambridge Crown Court, Draven pleaded guilty to multiple serious offenses, including attempting to engage in sexual communication with a minor and failing to comply with the Sex Offenders Register notification requirements.
He was subsequently sentenced to two years and seven months in prison.
Additionally, he was convicted of one count of making indecent images of children.
Detective Constable Andrew McKeane commented on the case, stating, “Draven brazenly continued to talk to the decoy and sent explicit photos of himself, despite being told she was 13 years old.
We will do everything in our power to bring those who groom, or attempt to groom, children to court and I am pleased Draven has now faced justice.” This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to protect vulnerable minors from online predators and to hold offenders accountable for their actions.
