CARLISLE NURSE WHO SEXUALLY ASSAULTED A PROFESSIONAL FACES SEX OFFENDER REGISTER
A registered nurse from Carlisle named Natalie Jones, aged 38, was convicted of sexually assaulting a female professional. She failed to have her sentence downgraded, and the court confirmed that she must automatically be added to the Sex Offender Register.
During the trial, it was outlined that Jones’s offending was fueled by drinking linked to traumatic events, including her struggles during the pandemic.
The incident involved Jones pulling a knife and emotional distress, after which she sexually assaulted the woman who was supporting her during a visit.
Although she admitted to the assault and received a 12-month community order with unpaid work and rehabilitation, her lawyer argued for a lesser sentence to prevent her from being registered.
The court, however, emphasized the seriousness of her actions, considering her recent history of alcohol abuse and previous conviction for drink driving.
The judge stated that the community order was appropriate and that being on the Sex Offender Register was inevitable.
