A 29-year-old man named Nasser Aldin Mohammed Ahmed, originally from Sudan and living on Reigate Road, Basford, was sentenced to seven years in prison for raping a woman at the Forest Recreation Ground during the Goose Fair event.
The incident occurred at approximately 3am on Sunday, October 9 of the previous year.
Prior to the attack, he had been attending Goose Fair, visited Old Market Square, bought food, and later consumed alcohol at the MOOG bar in Radford before returning to the recreation ground, where he committed the offence.
The victim managed to struggle free and call for help, while a passer-by alerted the police.
Ahmed was arrested two days later, on October 11, and was charged with the offence.
Despite denying the crime, he was found guilty after a trial at Derby Crown Court on April 7 and was subsequently sentenced on the same day.
The court also ordered his deportation to Sudan after serving his prison sentence.
Nottinghamshire Police officials expressed their support for the victim, highlighting her bravery and emphasizing that such abuse will always be acted upon.
