MUSTAPHA JALLOW SEX OFFENDER FROM LYME REGIS COULD FACE DEPORTATION AFTER CONVICTION

In a significant legal case originating from Lyme Regis, Mustapha Jallow, a 27-year-old Gambian national, has been convicted of multiple serious sexual offences and faces the possibility of deportation following his sentencing. The case, which was heard at Dorchester Crown Court, involved a series of disturbing allegations that spanned over several years and involved victims of different ages.

Jallow was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman and a 15-year-old girl, with the jury reaching a unanimous verdict after hearing detailed testimonies from both victims. The incidents in question occurred during the summer months of the previous year, and the court was presented with compelling evidence that painted a troubling picture of Jallow’s conduct.

The younger victim, a 15-year-old girl, recounted that she was at Jallow’s residence on Kingsway when he approached her in a manner that made her uncomfortable. She described how he rubbed himself against her and attempted to touch her sexually over her clothing, actions that she found distressing and invasive. The court heard her account with seriousness, emphasizing the violation of her personal boundaries.

In addition to this, a second incident involved a 21-year-old woman who testified that Jallow had physically grabbed her breasts and, in a disturbing display of inappropriate behavior, touched himself in her presence. These allegations further underscored the pattern of misconduct attributed to Jallow, who was ultimately convicted of both sexual assault charges.

Furthermore, Jallow faced charges related to a much older allegation involving a 14-year-old girl. The court heard that he had engaged in sexual activity with her between January 2008 and January 2009. During the trial, Jallow admitted to having had sex with the girl but claimed he believed she was 18 at the time. However, the jury was presented with evidence from the victim herself, who testified that Jallow was aware she was only 14, thus confirming the criminal nature of the act.

In mitigation, Jallow’s legal representative, Tim Shorter, argued that the sexual activities were consensual and that any touching involved in the assault cases was over clothing, suggesting a less malicious intent. Despite this, the jury’s verdict reflected the gravity of the offences.

Judge Roger Jarvis sentenced Jallow to a total of four years and two months in prison. He imposed a three-year term for the sexual activity with a minor and an additional one year and two months for the sexual assault convictions. The judge emphasized the seriousness of the crimes, stating, “You have been convicted by this jury of four very serious allegations.” He also expressed a somber reflection on the damage caused, saying, “I hope you reflect for a moment on just how much damage you have done.”

In addition to the prison sentence, Judge Jarvis recommended that Jallow be considered for deportation, a decision that will be reviewed by the Secretary of State. The court also ordered that Jallow be placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his conduct and safeguarding the community from potential future harm.
