MUSTAFA MUSTAFA AND THE SHOCKING SEXUAL ASSAULT IN DORSET

A 24-year-old Bulgarian man named Mustafa Mustafa has been condemned and sentenced to serve time behind bars after committing a heinous sexual assault in Bridport, Dorset.

The court heard that Mustafa dragged a young woman down an alleyway and forcibly raped her during a late-night encounter, an incident that has left profound and lasting scars on the victim.

The judge presiding over the case, Lord Justice Roger Jarvis, described Mustafa's actions as both wicked and disgraceful.

At Dorchester Crown Court, Mustafa was sentenced to 56 months in prison, reflecting the severity of his crime and its impact on the victim.

According to the prosecution, Megan Topliss, the court was informed that Mustafa's victim was an early 20-something woman living in Bridport who was walking home at around 11 pm on August 13.

She had previously seen Mustafa, who was sitting outside Bridport Kebab House on East Street, but did not know him personally.

As she passed by, Mustafa acknowledged her with a casual greeting of 'hi.' However, after their initial encounter, the woman became aware that Mustafa was following her.

He continued along the route as she headed toward Symondsbury, eventually coming alongside her.

The woman described how Mustafa closed the distance between them as they approached past the Bridport Medical Centre.

She expressed her desire to go home and changed course to head back into town.

Their walk together took them into a narrow alleyway.

It was here that the assault unfolded.

Mustafa stood too close to her, attempting to kiss her.

She clearly tried to resist, pulling back and trying to walk past him.

Nonetheless, Mustafa grabbed her arm firmly.

The court heard that he gestured towards himself and the victim, uttering words related to sex, which she repeatedly denied.

Despite her protests, Mustafa forcibly dragged her into the alley, pulling down both of their trousers.

It was during this assault that he raped her, an act that lasted approximately one minute before she managed to push him away.

The prosecution revealed that Mustafa then attempted to coerce her into performing a sexual act on him, but she resisted his advances.

He also placed his hands down her trousers and forced her to touch him before ultimately retreating.

Throughout the event, Mustafa's behaviour was described as aggressive, further compounding the trauma inflicted on the victim.

After the assault, Mustafa returned to the town while the victim made her way home.

The young woman subsequently contacted the police the following day.

Mustafa was arrested on August 15 in connection with the incident.

His lawyer, Tim Shorter, presented mitigating circumstances during the court proceedings.

He explained that Mustafa, who had only arrived in the United Kingdom approximately two months prior, was in Dorset seeking work to send money back to his family in Bulgaria.

Mr.

Shorter stated that Mustafa had entered a guilty plea at the earliest possible opportunity and demonstrated genuine remorse for his actions.

He emphasized that his client did not deny the offence and was cooperative throughout.

The judge, in delivering the sentence, addressed Mustafa directly, condemning him for his conduct and emphasizing its reprehensible nature.

The court also heard harrowing testimony from the victim through a statement about the devastating emotional and psychological consequences she now faces.

She disclosed that she no longer feels safe when walking alone at night, suffers from anxiety and panic attacks, and has to take medication.

She revealed that, prior to the attack, she had never engaged in sexual activity and is now experiencing difficulty sleeping and recurrent flashbacks.

The assault has severely affected her studies, her focus, and her ability to pursue her ambitions, including attending university.

Judge Jarvis remarked on the profound, lifelong impact this crime would have on the young woman, noting that the full extent of her suffering could only be partially understood.

Meanwhile, Inspector Mike Darby of Bridport police expressed satisfaction with the court's decision, highlighting Mustafa's exploitation of a vulnerable individual.

He pointed out that such offences are uncommon in West Dorset and that this significant sentencing reflects the seriousness of the crime.

Overall, this case underscores the tragic consequences of such violent acts and the justice system’s commitment to holding offenders accountable, especially in cases involving vulnerable victims.
