In a chilling case that has shocked the community of Kingston and the surrounding areas, Mujahid Arshid, aged 33, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the heinous murder of his niece, Celine Dookhran, aged 20. The court heard how Arshid, driven by a disturbing obsession, orchestrated a plan that culminated in a brutal act of violence that has left a family devastated and a community in mourning.According to court proceedings, Arshid abducted Celine Dookhran along with a second woman in July 2017. The abduction took place in the southwest London area, with the victims being forcibly taken to an isolated house in Kingston. The house, described as an empty six-bedroom property, became the scene of unimaginable violence. It was here that Arshid subjected both women to sexual assault, with the tragic climax being the murder of Celine Dookhran, who was strangled after her throat was slashed in the bathroom.
The second woman, whose identity remains protected, was severely injured but managed to escape after Arshid was momentarily distracted. She recounted her harrowing experience to police from her hospital bed, describing how she heard screams and thuds as Arshid murdered Celine. She was tied to a chair downstairs during the attack and was later assaulted herself, with Arshid slashing her throat and wrists in a frenzied attempt to silence her.
During her testimony, the surviving victim detailed the terrifying moments when Arshid turned on her, threatening her life and molesting her while she was bleeding and near death.
