MUHAMMED MUCAHID SENTENCED IN LONDON AND SOUTHEND FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON BOY
In a disturbing incident that took place in Southend, a man named Muhammed Mucahid was convicted of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old boy in a public setting. The assault occurred on August 5 of the previous year within the premises of a McDonald's restaurant located on Southend High Street. According to reports, Mucahid approached the young boy while he was in the restaurant's toilets, where he engaged in inappropriate behavior that included kissing the boy on the cheek and attempting to coax him into a bathroom cubicle. The young victim, frightened by the encounter, managed to escape from the toilet area and rejoined his father, who was nearby placing an order. The boy then observed Mucahid following another child and their mother into the same restroom, which prompted him to inform his father about the incident. His father responded swiftly by alerting the restaurant staff, who then took action to identify the individual responsible.
Unbeknownst to Mucahid, an off-duty Special Constable was present at the scene and witnessed his suspicious behavior. The officer followed Mucahid discreetly and detained him until additional police officers arrived to assist. The subsequent investigation led to charges against Mucahid, specifically for assaulting a boy under the age of 13 through inappropriate touching.
Mucahid, aged 58 and residing on Gladstone Avenue in London, denied the allegations during the trial. However, the court found him guilty of the charges on Thursday, January 31, at Basildon Crown Court. The following day, on February 1, Mucahid was sentenced to 14 months in prison. In addition to his incarceration, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of 10 years and was placed under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the same duration. Furthermore, a charge related to breaching the Sexual Harm Prevention Order was noted to be on file, indicating ongoing legal considerations regarding his conduct.
This case highlights the importance of vigilance in public spaces and the swift response of law enforcement in addressing sexual offenses involving minors, especially in well-frequented locations such as Southend and London.
