MORGAN SINCLAIR FROM DALKEITH FACES SERIOUS CHARGES AFTER EAST LOTHIAN BEACH ABUSE

A man named Morgan Sinclair, hailing from Dalkeith, has been convicted of multiple serious sexual offences involving young boys, following a detailed trial at Edinburgh Sheriff Court. The allegations stem from incidents that took place over a span of more than two years, primarily around the coastal area of Port Seton in East Lothian, where Sinclair engaged in disturbing and predatory behavior.

According to court proceedings, Sinclair lured one young victim to a secluded beach area near Port Seton during nighttime hours. There, he used the light from his phone’s torch to observe the boy urinating, an act that was part of his manipulative and exploitative conduct. Sinclair then offered to assist the boy, which led to him attempting to touch the child. The court heard that Sinclair molested the boy by touching his thigh and penis while they sat together in Sinclair’s vehicle parked near the beach. These acts of abuse were committed over multiple occasions between March 13, 2020, and March 12, 2022.

In addition to the physical abuse, Sinclair engaged in a disturbing pattern of online communication. He sent the young boy messages of a sexual nature via social media platforms, inquiring about puberty and the boy’s sexual experiences. These messages were part of a broader grooming effort, court documents revealed. The victim recounted that Sinclair also asked about his sexuality and the size and appearance of his penis, further indicating the predatory nature of Sinclair’s conduct.

Another young boy, the second victim, testified during the trial that Sinclair had made sexual remarks concerning solo sexual acts. The court heard that Sinclair’s online interactions with this second child also involved messages of a sexual nature, sent between June 1 and August 25, 2023. Sinclair’s inappropriate comments included questions about the second boy’s sexuality and physical attributes.

Throughout the trial, Sinclair denied all allegations, asserting that he had not groomed or touched any of the children and that he had not discussed masturbation with them. He admitted joking with one of the children about the size of their penises but denied requesting any explicit images. Despite his denials, the jury found Sinclair guilty of three sexual offences after a four-day trial, while acquitting him of a fourth charge involving an alleged request for a child to perform a sex act in his car in exchange for cigarettes.

Following the verdict, Sheriff Julius Komorowski emphasized the gravity of Sinclair’s crimes, stating, “The offences the jury have convicted you of are profoundly serious and there is some prospect that the penalty for you will be a substantial period of imprisonment.” Sinclair was placed on the sex offenders register on an interim basis and was released on bail. The court deferred sentencing to allow for social work reports and assessments regarding restrictions of liberty to be prepared, with a sentencing date set for next month.

In summary, Morgan Sinclair’s conviction relates to the sexual assault of a boy aged between 13 and 15 at Port Seton beach, with offences occurring over a two-year period. The court also found him guilty of sending sexual messages to the same child during this time frame, as well as making sexual remarks and sending similar messages to a second child over a separate period. The case highlights the disturbing nature of Sinclair’s predatory behavior and the serious legal consequences he now faces.
