MORGAN GREEN FROM NORFOLK SENTENCED FOR ONLINE SEX OFFENSES INVOLVING PAEDOPHILE HUNTERS
Morgan Green, a 48-year-old man from Norfolk, was recently brought to justice after engaging in illicit online communications with what he believed to be underage girls.His actions came to light when paedophile hunter groups targeted him, leading to his arrest and subsequent court proceedings.
Green had been under the impression that he was communicating with teenage females, but in reality, he was interacting with adult decoys posing as minors.
Norwich Crown Court heard that Green had been in conversation with one such decoy who immediately disclosed her age as 13.
Prosecutor John Morgans detailed that Green initially claimed she was 'too young' to engage in any sexual conversation.
However, he soon manipulated the dialogue, steering it towards explicit content.
Morgans emphasized that Green, who has an existing obsession with underwear, was asking her for photographs of her 'in her panties.' Further investigations revealed that Green had also been communicating with another decoy, also posing as a 13-year-old girl.
In these exchanges, he again requested explicit images and encouraged her to perform a sexual act on herself.
These disturbing interactions prompted police intervention.
Green was promptly arrested following the discovery of his online activities.
Green, who resides on New Street in Cromer, appeared before the court to face sentencing after admitting to two counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.
He also pleaded guilty to attempting to incite a girl under 16 to engage in sexual activity, with the incident having occurred on November 19 of the previous year.
During the sentencing hearing, Judge Andrew Shaw described Green as a 'dangerous' offender who posed a 'significant risk of serious harm' to children.
The judge sentenced him to an extended term of 10 years and four months, comprising four years and four months in custody and six years on licence.
Judge Shaw remarked, 'People like you don't just happen upon these sites, you go looking for them,' highlighting the premeditated nature of Green's actions.
In mitigation, Cathy McCulloch, representing Green, explained that he is a father of three and characterized him as someone with a 'self-destruct button.' She expressed that Green was 'just so grateful they weren't real children' and conveyed that he was remorseful, stating he wanted to express that he was 'very upset' and 'very sorry' for his conduct.
Despite this, the court made it clear that Green's actions warranted serious consequences.
As part of his sentence, Green was also subjected to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and was placed on the sex offenders register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community from further harm.
