MOMOH-JIMOH MUSARI SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS FOR RAPE IN EVERTON
A man from Everton has been handed a significant prison sentence of 12 years after being convicted of a serious sexual offence. Momoh-Jimoh Musari, aged 35 and residing in Greenside, Everton, was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, 21 June. The conviction followed a trial earlier this year in which the jury found him guilty of raping a woman in her 40s.The incident in question took place in October of the previous year, when Musari assaulted the woman at a residence located within Everton. The investigation into the assault was swift, leading to his arrest in the subsequent month. Despite maintaining his innocence and denying the charges, the evidence presented in court was compelling enough for the jury to convict him.
In addition to his prison term, Musari has been ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, a measure that underscores the severity of his crime. Furthermore, a 15-year Restraining Order has been imposed against him, prohibiting any contact with the victim and providing her with some measure of protection.
Detective Inspector Adam Smith commented on the case, emphasizing the danger posed by Musari. He stated, “Musari is clearly a dangerous offender and it’s reassuring to know that he has been removed from our community and is now facing a lengthy time in prison.”
He also praised the victim’s bravery, saying, “I want to acknowledge the bravery of his victim and for showing such strength and resolve during an extremely traumatic time.”
Inspector Smith highlighted the defendant’s attempts to deny the offence, noting, “Despite the evidence against him, Musari chose to deny the offence and tried to claim he had never met the victim. This was simply not true and meant that she had to endure a trial when she had to relive the terrible ordeal.”
He concluded with a message of hope, expressing relief that the jury saw through the lies and that the sentencing might bring some comfort to the victim, who endured a harrowing experience in her own home in Everton.
