MOHAMMED RABIE'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN BERKHAMSTED: SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR ATTACK ON TEENAGER
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, Mohammed Rabie, aged 62, has been sentenced to prison for a serious sexual assault involving a 14-year-old girl. The incident occurred at his own establishment, the Orange Tree Restaurant, located in the heart of the town, and has brought to light a troubling history of previous offenses.Rabie, who was present in court on October 19, 2003, pleaded not guilty to the charge of indecent assault. The court proceedings revealed that the assault took place within the premises of his restaurant, a place that was supposed to be a safe environment for patrons but instead became the scene of a criminal act.
Judge Seddon Cripps, presiding over the case at St Albans Crown Court, sentenced Rabie to two and a half years in prison. In his remarks, the judge emphasized the danger Rabie poses to young girls, stating, “You present a real danger to teenage girls.” The court's decision underscores the seriousness of the offense and the threat posed by the offender.
Adding to the gravity of the case, the judge pointed out that Rabie appeared not to have learned from his previous encounters with the law. In 1997, Rabie was convicted and sentenced to eight weeks in prison for assaulting two 15-year-old girls, a conviction that did little to deter him from reoffending.
During the court proceedings, Rabie explained that he considered himself a tactile person, a statement that did little to mitigate the severity of his actions. As part of his sentence, Rabie was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register indefinitely, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities to prevent further harm.
Furthermore, Rabie was banned from working with children and was subjected to an extended license period of five years. This means that if he commits any further offenses during this time, he could be returned to prison. The court also ordered him to pay costs amounting to £2,000.
The defense lawyer, Richard Germaine, confirmed that the Orange Tree Restaurant has since been closed, a move likely aimed at preventing further incidents and protecting the community. The case has left residents of Berkhamsted deeply concerned about safety and the potential for repeat offenses by individuals with a history of sexual misconduct.
