2007: MAN JAILED FOR WORCESTER HOTEL ASSAULT
A 29-year-old man received a five-month prison sentence after being convicted of physically assaulting his partner and issuing threats to kill her during an incident at a Worcester hotel.Mohammed Meah was additionally found responsible for damaging clothing valued at approximately £5,000 during a stay at the Fownes Hotel on City Walls Road in March of the previous year.
Prosecutor Mark Soper told Worcester magistrates that an argument erupted in the couple's hotel room, during which Meah, a resident of Manchester, requested his partner Sandra Dunlop to strike him with a bottle of alcohol.
When she refused, he confined her inside the bathroom and then forced her to sit on him, while wrapping her hands around his neck.
Mr.
Soper stated: "He threatened her by saying 'I'm going to kill you' and 'you're going to regret meeting me.'" She eventually escaped the room, seeking help from staff before hiding until police arrived, at which point Meah was detained.
Defence lawyer Brian O'Connell acknowledged that "Mr.
Meah appears to have an issue with anger" and mentioned that he is attempting to enroll in an anger management program.
He added that the couple is working to address their relationship problems.
District Judge Bruce Morgan remarked: "You seem to view women as objects to control and command.
Such behaviour will not be tolerated." In addition to his sentence, Meah's driving record has been marked with three penalty points, and he received a £100 fine for driving without a license in February 2006.
