MOHAMMED HUSSAIN AND SHOCKING SEXUAL ASSAULT IN WORCESTER
A convicted sex offender has been given a prison sentence after an incident in Worcester that involved drugging a woman and then assaulting her in the street. The offender, Mohammed Hussain, who is 35 years old, targeted a woman outside a hotel situated in the heart of the city centre.
The attack took place during the ongoing Covid-19 lockdown, specifically on June 25, 2020, near the Fownes Hotel.
According to reports, Hussain approached the woman and offered her a cannabis cigarette, which he secretly laced with a potent drug known as Black Mamba, often referred to as a 'zombie' drug due to its highly disorienting effects.
Unaware of the drug’s presence, the victim took a puff and within moments became profoundly stunned and disoriented.
It was during this state that Hussain intensified his assault by grabbing her breasts, an act of sexual misconduct meant to satisfy his own gratification.
The assault was witnessed by a bystander passing nearby, who quickly intervened by physically pulling Hussain away from the woman.
The bystander’s timely action prevented further harm and alerted authorities.
The woman subsequently reported the incident to the police, leading to Hussain’s arrest.
During the investigation and trial, Hussain denied that he had committed sexual assault or had intentionally administered a substance with the aim of stupefying the victim to facilitate sexual activity.
However, the court found him guilty of the sexual assault, although he was cleared of the specific charge related to administering a drug to overpower or stupefy the victim.
At Worcester Crown Court, on Wednesday, December 7, Hussain was sentenced to a term of 11 months in prison.
In addition to his incarceration, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for the next ten years.
The court also imposed a five-year restraining order, which prohibits Hussain from contacting or approaching the victim directly or indirectly.
These measures aim to protect the victim and prevent any further contact or intimidation.
Detective Constable Pete Ryland of West Mercia Police issued a statement emphasizing the severity of the case.
He explained how Hussain had approached the woman and unknowingly laced her cannabis with Black Mamba, resulting in her becoming physically stupefied.
Ryland noted that Hussain’s deliberate act of touching the victim’s breasts was carried out for his own gratification, which constituted a serious sexual offence.
He praised the woman for her courage and resilience in coming forward and providing testimony during the trial, highlighting her ongoing struggle with the psychological aftermath of the assault.
The police and support agencies continue to assist her in her recovery, as she works towards putting this traumatic experience behind her.
This case underscores the dangers of drug-related assaults and highlights the importance of witnesses and victims coming forward to ensure that justice can be served against perpetrators like Mohammed Hussain in Worcester.
