MOHAMMED FARAH FROM BARKING JAILED FOR RAPE IN STRATFORD

In a case that has shocked the local community, Mohammed Farah, a 38-year-old man from Hurstbourne Gardens in Barking, has been sentenced to nine years in prison for the heinous crime of raping a 15-year-old girl in Stratford. The incident took place on Sunday, October 2, 2016, in Torrens Square, a well-known public area in Stratford.

According to court proceedings, Farah lured the young girl to the location after they had been drinking beer together. During their encounter, he inappropriately touched her, prompting her to tell him to stop. Despite her protests, Farah, who was visibly marked by the loss of his leg from a motorbike accident, convinced her to stay. He then proceeded to commit the assault, raping her and threatening to kill her if she disclosed what had happened.

The girl, traumatized by the assault, reported the incident to police on Monday, October 17, 2016. She described her attacker to officers as “Mo Farah,” noting that he only had one leg. The police responded swiftly, attending an address in Waltham Forest where she had reported the rape. During the investigation, officers identified Farah as the suspect and arrested him at his home in Barking.

Initially, Farah denied any involvement, claiming he had never met the girl and had no knowledge of the incident. However, CCTV footage later emerged, showing him walking with the girl to Torrens Square, directly contradicting his claims. This evidence played a crucial role in the case, leading to his charge of raping a female under 16 years of age.

Farah’s trial at Southwark Crown Court concluded on Tuesday, April 4, with a guilty verdict. The court found him responsible for the assault, and he was subsequently sentenced to nine years in prison. In addition to his custodial sentence, Farah was issued a 10-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order, aimed at preventing any future offenses.

This case is not the first time Farah has been involved in serious sexual offenses. Records show that he was previously convicted in September 2011 for raping a girl in Barking Park after a night of drinking with friends, resulting in a six-year prison sentence. Furthermore, he was also convicted of raping a 17-year-old girl in May 2010, highlighting a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior.

Commenting on the case, a police spokesperson stated, “Farah is a dangerous individual who preyed on an extremely vulnerable girl and exploited his disability to gain her trust. The victim believed she was safe in his company, which made her more susceptible to his assault. We hope this conviction provides some measure of justice for her and sends a clear message that such behavior will not be tolerated.”
