MIHAI MARIAN JAILED FOR RAPE AND ASSAULT IN LEICESTERSHIRE AND WOLVERHAMPTON

A man identified as Mihai Marian has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being convicted of serious sexual offenses and assault in the United Kingdom. Marian, aged 43 and known locally as ‘Mike’, was handed an eight-year prison sentence at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Friday, June 20, following a trial held at Stafford Crown Court last month. The court also ordered Marian to be registered on the Sex Offenders Register, reflecting the severity of his crimes.

Details of the case reveal that Marian’s criminal activities spanned multiple incidents involving different victims. The first incident involved Marian meeting a woman through an online dating application. During this encounter, he committed an act of sexual assault, and in a disturbing display of violence, he also forcibly stubbed out cigarettes on her back against her will. This act of cruelty was part of a broader pattern of misconduct that ultimately led to his arrest and prosecution.

Further investigations uncovered that Marian was involved in another serious offense in October of the same year. He was accused of raping and sexually assaulting a different woman in Leicestershire. The police swiftly pursued him following these allegations, and he was subsequently charged and tried for these offenses.

On May 29, Marian was found guilty of the charges related to the sexual assaults. The court sentenced him to eight years in prison for the rape, with an additional four years for the sexual assault, though these sentences are to be served concurrently. Additionally, he received a six-month sentence for causing actual bodily harm, which is also to be served concurrently. These combined sentences reflect the gravity of his actions and the impact on his victims.

PC Steven Franklin, the officer leading the case, expressed his views on the proceedings, stating, “This was a horrifying case in which Marian showed no remorse and refused to admit his guilt. Thankfully, the jury saw through his lies and rightly convicted him for his offences. I commend the bravery of the victims for coming forward and thank Leicestershire Police for their work in assisting us in this case.”
