MICHAEL WILKIE'S BRUTAL CRIMES IN PERTH: A DANGEROUS OFFENDER'S REIGN OF TERROR
Michael Wilkie, a 29-year-old man from Perth, has been sentenced to five years in prison following a series of violent and life-threatening assaults against his partner, Natalie Livingstone.The incidents, which took place over a span of several months, reveal a disturbing pattern of domestic violence that culminated in a particularly harrowing attack in a lay-by along the busy A9 highway near Dalwhinnie, Perthshire.
According to court proceedings at Perth Sheriff Court, the assault in April 2019 occurred as the couple was returning from a day out.
They had pulled over after their vehicle ran out of petrol, and it was during this moment that Wilkie's violent tendencies erupted.
Prosecutor David Currie detailed how Wilkie, without warning, headbutted Natalie, then proceeded to physically drag her around.
His rage escalated as he threatened to kill her, even going as far as to say he would throw her under the next passing car.
The court heard that Wilkie's violence did not stop there; he pinned Natalie to the ground, restricting her breathing, and then stamped on her chest, causing her significant distress and danger to her life.
These events marked one of three severe assaults inflicted by Wilkie upon his partner, all of which posed serious threats to her safety.
The court also learned of earlier incidents, including a Christmas Day attack in 2018, when Wilkie threw Natalie against a wall and throttled her.
The violence continued into February of the following year, with Wilkie strangling her again and then pinning her against a wall.
During this attack, he struck her with furniture and threw a bottle and a candle ornament at her head, further illustrating the pattern of domestic abuse.
Wilkie admitted to three charges of assault that endangered her life, acknowledging the severity of his actions.
In response, Sheriff Lindsay Foulis imposed a six-year non-harassment order against Wilkie, emphasizing the gravity of his conduct.
The sheriff described the series of offenses as an "appalling catalogue of offending of a domestic nature," underscoring the danger and harm caused by Wilkie’s violent behavior in Perth and the surrounding areas.
