MICHAEL VIRGO FROM NORWICH FOUND GUILTY OF MURDERING HIS WIFE AT GRAYS FAIR COURT

Michael Virgo, an 81-year-old man originally from Buxton in Norfolk, has been convicted of the murder of his wife, Doreen Virgo, aged 89. The verdict was delivered by a jury at Ipswich Crown Court after a detailed trial that revealed disturbing details about the couple's final moments together.

According to court proceedings, the couple had initially planned to end their lives together through a suicide pact involving rat poison. However, the plan did not unfold as intended. When the poison failed to take effect, Mr. Virgo resorted to more violent means, strangling his wife and assaulting her with a shower head. The cause of her death was determined to be compression of the neck, which was consistent with the manner of strangulation.

Further evidence presented during the trial included the discovery of blue stains around her mouth, which matched rat poison, along with traces found in a beaker and a mug located in her room at Grays Fair Court care home. Doreen Virgo had been residing there following a recent hospital stay, and the evidence suggested she was in a vulnerable state at the time of her death.
