SHREWSBURY MAN MICHAEL SCRASE SENTENCED TO 32 YEARS FOR MULTIPLE SEX OFFENCES

Michael Scrase, a resident of Burnell Way in Shrewsbury, has been convicted on a total of 21 criminal charges related to sexual offenses. The charges include 14 counts of rape, five counts of sexual assault by penetration, and two counts of child abuse. The trial, which lasted for two weeks in September 2024, revealed disturbing details about the nature and duration of his crimes. Prosecutors presented evidence that the offenses occurred over a period spanning from 2014 to 2021, highlighting a prolonged pattern of abuse that caused significant harm to his victims.

Following the trial, Scrase appeared before Wolverhampton Crown Court on Friday, December 13, where he was handed a substantial sentence. The court sentenced him to a total of 32 years in prison, consisting of 28 years of direct custodial detention and an additional four years to be served on license, meaning he will be under supervision after his release. The severity of the sentence reflects the gravity of his crimes and the court’s recognition of the impact on his victims.

Detective Constable Julia Warren, who led the investigation into Scrase’s offenses, issued a statement emphasizing the danger he posed. She described him as a
