MICHAEL ROSS FROM BALLINGRY SENT THREATENING MESSAGES TO EX-PARTNER AT DUNFERMLINE SHERIFF COURT

A man from Dunfermline, identified as Michael Ross, aged 32 and residing on Gilfillan Road, faced legal proceedings after he was found guilty of sending threatening and abusive messages to his former partner in the town of Ballingry. The incident took place on May 19, at an address within Ballingry, where Ross communicated through text messages that contained both abusive language and threats of violence.

During the court hearing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court, Ross admitted to the charges. The messages he sent included disturbing and aggressive content, with one stating, “I’ve had to stop four people smashing your face,” implying violent intent and possibly referencing past threats or incidents. Another message read, “You’re f***** like,” which further demonstrated the aggressive tone of his communications.

The defence solicitor, Ian Beatson, explained that Ross had been consuming alcohol heavily since his separation from his partner, which he suggested may have contributed to his behavior. Despite this, the court took the matter seriously and imposed a community payback order on Ross. As part of the sentence, he was ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work, reflecting the court’s attempt to balance accountability with rehabilitation.

Sheriff Craig McSherry presided over the case, emphasizing the importance of addressing such threatening conduct, especially when it involves former partners. The case highlights ongoing concerns about domestic-related threats and the legal measures taken to protect individuals from harassment and violence.
