MICHAEL QUINLAN SENTENCED IN ROMFORD FOR SEXUAL ABUSE CASE
In a recent case that has shocked the community of Romford, a former teacher and local businessman faced justice for his involvement in a serious sexual abuse incident. The court proceedings took place at Snaresbrook Court on May 25, where Michael Quinlan, aged 73 and residing on Kelvedon Road, was sentenced for his crimes.Quinlan was convicted of three counts of indecent assault involving a boy under the age of 14, as well as an additional count of indecent assault on a male individual. Despite his previous plea of not guilty, the jury found him guilty on these charges, which has brought some measure of closure to the victim and the community.
During the trial, Quinlan’s defense argued against the charges, but the evidence presented was compelling enough for the jury to convict him on the majority of counts. However, he was acquitted of one count of indecent assault on a male, which the jury found not proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
Following his conviction, Quinlan was sentenced to 22 months in prison, but the sentence was suspended, meaning he will not serve time immediately but will be under supervision and subject to certain conditions. This decision has sparked mixed reactions among the public and victims alike.
As part of his punishment and to protect the community, Michael Quinlan has been placed on the sex offenders register for life. This measure ensures ongoing monitoring and restrictions to prevent any further offenses.
One victim, who attended the court proceedings, expressed feelings of profound isolation, stating that they feel “truly alone” after the sentencing. The case has highlighted the ongoing issues surrounding sexual abuse and the importance of justice for victims, especially in close-knit communities like Romford.
