SWINDON PAEDOPHILE MICHAEL MOXON CAUGHT AFTER CAR CRASH REVEALS DARK SECRETS
In a case that has shocked the local community of Swindon, a minor traffic incident led police directly to a man with a disturbing criminal history.Michael Moxon, aged 70 and a resident of Ferndale Road in Swindon, became the focus of a serious investigation after an apparently routine car accident early last year.
Following the collision, Moxon provided his mobile phone number to the police, perhaps unaware of the dark trail it would lead them down.
When authorities entered his contact details into their system, they uncovered a chilling connection: the number matched that of an individual involved in the trade of indecent images of children.
This discovery raised immediate concerns about Moxon’s possible involvement in child exploitation activities.
Prosecutor Colin Meeke outlined the case during proceedings at Swindon Crown Court, revealing that the investigation initially began in Wales in October 2017.
The case involved a man from Neath who was under scrutiny for possessing vile material.
The Neath man had left a memory card at a Boots store, which upon examination was found to contain numerous images depicting child abuse.
Further investigation into his phone revealed contacts, one of which was listed as 'Mike from Swindon.' It appeared that Moxon had been exchanging these disturbing images with the Welsh suspect, with evidence suggesting that he had both sent and received such material.
Despite the disturbing nature of these exchanges, authorities faced difficulties tracking Moxon because his phone was not registered to him, complicating efforts to establish his identity and involvement.
However, fate intervened when Moxon was involved in the traffic accident.
During the incident, he provided his mobile phone number to the police, which was the same as the one linked to 'Mike from Swindon.' This coincidence led officers directly to his doorstep.
Upon his arrest, police seized his computer, uncovering a collection of child abuse images.
Further examination revealed that Moxon had sent two additional images to different recipients during the first half of 2017, indicating ongoing involvement in the distribution of such material.
Moxon, who has no prior convictions, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including two counts of possessing indecent images of children, one count of distribution, and possession of extreme pornography involving bestiality.
The court was informed that the probation service believed he could be managed within society, given his lack of previous criminal history.
During sentencing, Judge Robert Pawson acknowledged Moxon’s background, stating, “Over the course of the last 20 years, you have led a somewhat sad life.
You are assessed as being a low risk of harm.” The judge emphasized the importance of preventing further access or distribution of such images, noting that although the number of images was low, this could suggest an attempt to cover tracks.
As a result, Moxon was sentenced to a two-year community order, which includes 30 days of rehabilitation activity and 200 hours of unpaid work, aiming to address his behavior and prevent future offenses.
