BRISTOL PERVERT MICHAEL MAGIC CAUGHT FILMING 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN SHOWER WITH SPY CAMERA INSIDE BOTTLE
In August 2017, a disturbing case emerged from Bristol involving a man named Michael Magic, who was found guilty of secretly filming a 13-year-old girl using a covert camera hidden inside a Lynx shower gel bottle.The incident took place in Magic's own home, where he had installed the device in his bathroom with the intent of capturing images of the girl during her shower.
According to court reports, Magic, a 38-year-old warehouse worker residing on Pilgrims Walk in St Anne's Park, initially conducted a test run by filming his wife showering.
This preliminary footage was meant as a practice, but his sinister plans extended further.
The victim, a young girl, was at Magic’s residence when she entered the bathroom and noticed something unusual in the shower gel bottle stored in the cabinet.
She observed that the bottle contained a mobile phone, which was not supposed to be there.
Upon closer inspection, she saw that the phone was recording a video.
The footage revealed Magic positioning the phone inside the bottle, which had been modified with a cut-out rectangle to allow the camera to face the shower cubicle.
The device was carefully placed in the bathroom cabinet, with the camera directed towards the shower area, enabling Magic to secretly record the girl while she was showering.
When confronted about his actions, Magic immediately admitted to his guilt.
He repeatedly apologized and claimed that he had done similar recordings before, expressing confusion about what had driven him to such behavior.
The girl, distressed by what she had discovered, confided in her mother, who promptly reported the incident to the police.
During police interviews, Magic revealed that he had observed the girl’s exposed chest and felt an inappropriate attraction towards her.
He admitted that he had previously filmed his wife in the shower as a “practice run” and had used some of the footage for sexual gratification, but the filming of the young girl was an extension of his disturbing behavior.
In court, Magic pleaded guilty to a charge of voyeurism.
The judge sentenced him to a 60-day rehabilitation activity requirement, ordered him to attend sex offender treatment programs, and mandated that he pay the victim £1,000 in compensation.
Additionally, Magic was instructed to register as a sex offender for five years.
He declined to comment as he left Bristol Crown Court.
The victim, whose identity remains protected for legal reasons, expressed her feelings about the sentencing.
She stated, “Obviously the judge can’t lock him up for 20,000 years until he dies.
I would have liked to have seen more.
It’s just how it is.” Her mother voiced her disappointment with the justice system, saying, “I feel really, really let down by the justice system, not the judge personally.
These sentencing guidelines are not in favour of the victim.
They are in favour of saving public spending on prison.
I was hoping for immediate custody so he could suffer a fraction of the hardship my daughter suffered.” The girl, who watched the sentencing via video link at Bristol Crown Court, shared her emotional state in a statement.
She said, “It’s always in my head.
I can’t get rid of the memory, it won’t leave me alone.” She also revealed that she now has to shower with her mother in the bathroom and feels ashamed about what happened, highlighting the lasting impact of the trauma inflicted by Magic’s actions.
