SHEFFIELD MAN JAILED AFTER VIOLENT SEXUAL ASSAULT ON ELDERLY WOMAN
A man has been sentenced to over ten years in prison following a brutal sexual assault on an elderly woman in her 80s inside her own residence.Michael Kidd, aged 35, received a 14-year term, along with an additional five years on extended licence, after pleading guilty to charges including wounding with intent and multiple sexual offenses.
Court proceedings at Sheffield Crown Court heard that in July of the previous year, Kidd exploited his victim’s frailty and attacked her using ornaments, resulting in severe injuries to her head and face.
Subsequently, he sexually assaulted her and bit her repeatedly.
Detective Constable Gary Rawlings, who led the investigation, stated: “Kidd has been rightly sentenced to prison for his violent and extended attack.
The victim, who lives with dementia and was unable to tell her story, was supported by thorough evidence from the reactive CID team at Doncaster.
This substantial evidence led to Kidd’s guilty plea and helped give the victim a voice.
I believe that the sentence serves to bring some justice to her and her family.” Kidd, who was without a fixed address, admitted guilt during a November 30 hearing at Sheffield Crown Court.
His sentence today (February 29) totals 19 years.
