MICHAEL HUNT SCUNTHORPE PAEDOPHILE AND MOTHER SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC CRIME INVOLVING 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Scunthorpe, a man named Michael Hunt has been convicted of heinous sexual offenses involving a 14-year-old girl. The incident, which took place several years ago, culminated in Hunt being sentenced to nine years in prison, while the mother who facilitated the crime received a sentence of five and a half years.According to court proceedings at Grimsby Crown Court, Hunt was found guilty of raping the young girl, an act that has left deep emotional scars. The case revealed a chilling account of betrayal and neglect, as the girl’s own mother played a pivotal role in enabling the assault. The mother, whose identity is protected for legal reasons, was accused of luring her daughter to a location where Hunt was waiting. Once there, she ordered her daughter to engage in sexual acts with Hunt, a man who was known to the family.
The court heard that the mother, instead of intervening or showing concern for her daughter’s distress, chose to abandon her child’s cries for help and went shopping. This callous behavior was described as 'depraved' by Judge David Tremberg, who expressed his outrage at the mother’s actions. The girl, overwhelmed with fear, contacted police afterward, but her mother attempted to emotionally blackmail her into dropping the charges, further compounding the trauma.
During sentencing, Judge Tremberg did not hold back in condemning both individuals. He stated, “You facilitated her rape by Hunt. It almost beggars belief any mother would behave so depraved towards her own flesh and blood. How does a child come to terms with such a devastating betrayal of trust?” The judge emphasized that the mother had seen her daughter was too scared to move and yet chose to ignore her pleas for help, leaving her to face the assault alone.
The court also highlighted that the mother’s actions were not only morally reprehensible but also legally culpable. She was found guilty of aiding and abetting rape and witness intimidation. The jury’s verdict confirmed her active role in the crime, which caused the young girl significant emotional harm and risked further victimization.
Michael Hunt, a 40-year-old from Scunthorpe, was convicted of rape and related offenses. He was a factory ground worker at the time of his arrest. The judge made it clear that any rape of a minor, especially a 14-year-old girl, is a grave offense that warrants severe punishment. Hunt was sentenced to nine years’ imprisonment, with the court also imposing a lifelong Sexual Offences Prevention Order and requiring him to register as a sex offender for life.
Furthermore, Hunt is now prohibited from having unsupervised contact with any child under 16. The mother, on her part, was barred from having custody, care, or control of any children. Both individuals were also subjected to strict legal restrictions, reflecting the seriousness of their crimes.
Judge Tremberg concluded by warning that Hunt’s actions could have long-lasting repercussions, not only for the victim but also for potential future victims. He underscored that the case departed from any standards of decent behavior, especially given that both offenders were intoxicated at the time of the offense. The community of Scunthorpe is left to grapple with the aftermath of this disturbing case, which underscores the importance of vigilance and safeguarding vulnerable children from such depravity.
