MICHAEL GRAY OF HULL JAILED FOR FAILURE TO REGISTER ADDRESS AFTER EXPOSURE INCIDENT
In a recent court hearing held in Hull, Michael Gray, a 41-year-old resident of Spring Bank, was sentenced to nine months in prison for neglecting to inform the police of his new residential address over a period of three months. This failure to comply with legal obligations comes despite Gray's prior convictions and court orders related to sex offenses.Gray's legal troubles date back to 2006 when he was convicted of exposure, which led to his being ordered to register as a sex offender. Since then, he has had a history of non-compliance, including previous failures to notify police of his address in both 2006 and 2007. The latest breach was uncovered after Gray was arrested in October, during which authorities discovered he had been residing on Spring Bank without updating his address as required by law.
The court, presided over by Recorder Guy Kearl QC, expressed strong disapproval of Gray's conduct. The judge stated, "You made no attempt whatsoever to register your new address. Clearly, you have no intention of complying with the terms of the order unless it is convenient to you. The court cannot accept or condone continuing breaches to the register."
Under the law, offenders are mandated to notify police of any change of address within three days. Gray's failure to do so was a serious violation, especially given his history and the nature of his previous offenses. The court's decision underscores the importance of strict adherence to registration laws designed to protect the community.
Gray's previous conviction involved an incident where he was caught exposing himself in a shop window, an act that was witnessed by children. His repeated failure to comply with legal requirements highlights ongoing concerns about his conduct and the potential risk he poses to the public.
