ADDLESTONE MAN SENTENCED TO NINE YEARS FOR SERIAL SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON VULNERABLE WOMEN
An Addlestone man has been sentenced to nine years in prison for multiple sexual offences, including rape, after he targeted vulnerable women over a three-year period from 2013 to 2016.Michael Duxbury, aged 51 and residing in Caselden Close, was found guilty by Guildford Crown Court of two counts of sexual assault and one count of rape.
He had previously admitted to a fourth count of sexual assault.
The offences involved taking advantage of women while they were heavily intoxicated or medicated, often by offering them shelter under false pretenses and then exploiting their vulnerable state.
The court heard that Duxbury raped a 35-year-old woman on February 6 of that year after inviting her to stay and then forcing himself on her.
He was also convicted of sexually assaulting a 34-year-old woman in September 2015 after she became unwell, and was found guilty of assaulting a 56-year-old woman in November 2013, who was under the influence of medication.
Detective Inspector Debbie White, who led the investigation, stated that Duxbury’s actions caused significant distress, and commended the victims for their courage in coming forward.
The judge’s sentencing reflects a strong stance on investigating sexual offences, encouraging victims to report such crimes with confidence that they will be supported and their cases thoroughly examined.
