MICHAEL BELL JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE IN SALFORD AND URMSTON

In a disturbing case that has shocked the Greater Manchester community, Michael Bell, born on January 17, 1978, and with no fixed address, has been convicted of heinous sexual offenses involving two young girls. The crimes took place across various locations in Salford and Urmston, highlighting a pattern of abuse that spanned several years.

Bell was found guilty of 18 counts of indecent assault following a trial at Minshull Street Crown Court. On Friday, December 13, 2013, he was sentenced to a term of eight years in prison. Additionally, he was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.

The first victim, a girl who was only four years old at the time, was subjected to Bell’s abuse from a very young age. The assault continued over a period of years, until she was approximately 10 or 11 years old. The second girl, who was around five or six when the abuse began, was victimized over a shorter span of time. The crimes occurred at multiple addresses across Greater Manchester, including locations in Salford and Urmston, illustrating the widespread nature of Bell’s offending.

During the course of the abuse, Bell engaged in deeply disturbing acts, including filming the naked girl and forcing her to watch the recordings. He also made threatening statements, telling her that he would “have her one day” and that he would “go to prison for her,” a chilling indication of his manipulative and predatory behavior.

Years later, the second victim encountered Bell again. During their interaction, he admitted to her that he had committed the abuse and claimed he did so “to save her.” He further reiterated his threats, saying, “I’ll have you one day and I’d go to prison for you,” revealing a disturbing justification for his actions.

Detective Constable Nicola Graham, from the Child Protection Unit, expressed her condemnation of Bell’s actions. She stated, “Hall subjected two very young girls to repeated abuse. Certainly in the case of one victim, the abuse was so consistent that she thought what was happening was normal. Hall has destroyed their childhoods, and their emotional wellbeing has been significantly affected because of this.”

She continued, “We have and will continue to support these two young women — who have found strength in each other during what remains a deeply traumatic time for them both. By coming forward, they have ensured Bell has been brought to justice for his heinous crimes. He told one girl he would go to prison for her. Thanks to her bravery, we have been able to make sure he is true to his word.”
