SPENNYMOOR MAN JAILED FOR SIX YEARS FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
A man named Maynard Mole was sentenced to six years in prison for sexually abusing a teenage boy over several years in the early to mid-1990s.
The victim suffered significant emotional and psychological harm as a result of the abuse.
Court proceedings revealed that Mole initially denied the allegations but later made some confessions to family members about his sexual misconduct.
Although Mole was arrested following a police complaint made in April of the previous year, he was bailed initially.
His actions had an "adverse impact" on the victim's life, and he was charged with three counts of indecent assault and two counts of buggery.
During the sentencing, Judge Christopher Prince emphasized the seriousness of the offense, stating, "I have read the victim impact statement and suffice to say, your behaviour has had a very adverse impact on his life since that tender age." Mole, who has a low IQ and limitations in intellectual functioning, was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.
