MAYAS UBED FROM BEESTON AND SNEINTON JAILED FOR RAPE OF 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local communities of Beeston and Sneinton, a man named Mayas Ubed, aged 29, was convicted of heinous crimes involving a young girl. Ubed, who previously resided on Walton Avenue in Sneinton, was found guilty of raping a 13-year-old girl after luring her into a dangerous situation while his wife and children were away on holiday.

The incident dates back to August 2012, when Ubed, under the false name 'Harry,' befriended the young girl and began meeting her regularly in a park located in the Beeston area. His deception and manipulation were part of a calculated effort to exploit her vulnerability. Ubed’s lies extended to his identity, as he falsely claimed to be someone else, which allowed him to gain her trust.

On one particular occasion, Ubed took the girl to a property in Nottingham city. He claimed that he was looking after the house for a friend who was away on holiday. However, the truth was that the property was his own residence, and it was his wife and children who were on holiday at the time. Once inside the house, Ubed offered the girl vodka, which she consumed and subsequently began to feel unwell. She had to lie down to recover from the effects of the alcohol, but during this vulnerable moment, Ubed assaulted her.

Despite her pleas of ‘no,’ Ubed ignored her protests and raped her twice. The girl’s cries for help were eventually heard by a friend, who approached the scene and interrupted the assault, bringing the ordeal to an end. The trauma of the incident was compounded by the fact that Ubed had manipulated her into believing she was safe, only to betray her trust in the most devastating way.

Following the summer holidays, the girl confided in a teacher at her school about what had happened. Her account prompted a police investigation. Two months later, Ubed was spotted working at a car wash on Wollaton Road in Nottingham. Recognizing him, authorities quickly arrested him. During questioning, Ubed denied knowing the girl and denied the allegations of rape. However, the victim was able to identify him during an identification parade, which led to his conviction.

Ubed faced trial at Nottingham Crown Court, where he was found guilty of two counts of rape. The court sentenced him to nine years in prison. Additionally, he will be required to sign the sex offenders’ register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.

DCI Martin Hillier from the Sexual Exploitation Investigation Unit expressed his condemnation of Ubed’s actions, stating, “This man targeted a vulnerable child and then plied her with alcohol to render her helpless. Ubed exploited the vulnerability of this child who trusted him. However, what she has done is to show tremendous bravery in giving evidence against him to secure his conviction for these offences. I hope this sentence reinforces the fact that Nottinghamshire Police will thoroughly investigate cases of child sexual exploitation and we will do everything we can to protect young people from sexual predators like Ubed.”
