MATTHEW WHITE FROM WARRINGTON SENT PERVERTED PICTURES TO TEENAGE GIRL IN SHOCKING ONLINE PREDATION CASE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Warrington, Matthew White, aged 32, became the subject of a serious criminal investigation after he engaged in a disturbing online exchange with what he believed was a 14-year-old girl.The incident unfolded on June 16, 2018, when White sent explicit images and a video of himself through social media platforms, under the false assumption that he was communicating with a minor.
Unbeknownst to White, he had fallen into a trap set by vigilant paedophile hunters who had posed as the young girl online.
Two weeks after the initial exchange, a child protection team specializing in online safety arrived at White’s residence in Warrington to confront him directly.
The authorities had tracked the online activity and coordinated the operation to apprehend him.
When confronted at his home, White did not deny his actions.
Instead, he admitted to sending indecent images to what he believed was a minor, confirming the suspicions of the child protection team.
His admission led to his immediate arrest by police officers, who subsequently charged him with serious offences related to online child exploitation.
White appeared before Chester Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to charges of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and attempting to cause a child to watch sexual activity.
During the court proceedings, his address was recorded as HMP Altcourse, indicating he was in custody at the time of the hearing.
On August 3, 2018, the court sentenced White to a prison term of 12 months.
Additionally, he was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for a period of ten years, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities post-release.
The court also imposed a victim surcharge of £140, which White was required to pay as part of his sentencing.
This case highlights the ongoing dangers of online predators and the importance of vigilance in protecting minors from exploitation.
