January 2020 Paedophile attracted to young boys had sick sexual abuse images A Derby paedophile with a perverted attraction to young boys was found to have more than 100 indecent images of children. Matthew Hawley had a combined total of 120 pictures and videos relating to categories A, B and C, category A being the most serious of the three. Derby Crown Court heard how police seized his laptop and found the images, all of which were of boys aged between six and 13-years-old. Judge Jason Macadam, who presided over the case, told the 30-year-old he would not be imposing immediate custody and handed him a community order for his actions. Judge Macadam said: “You earlier pleaded guilty to these three matters and you co-operated when police visited your address and when they interviewed you. “You gave a full confession to the police. I am not going to lock him up, I am going to follow the recommendation in the pre-sentence report. “I am not going to go into detail about you from the probation. “You pleaded guilty at the first available opportunity. I will impose a community order.” Siward James-Moore, prosecuting, told the court a search was carried out at Hawley’s Derby address in March 2019, after information was received the internet connection was used to download indecent images of children. He said police found 87 indecent images from category A – 86 of these were movies, 30 images from category B and three from category C. They all related to boys between the ages of six and 13. Hawley, of Faire Street, Derby, pleaded guilty to three charges of indecent images relating to the categories of A, B and C images when he appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court. He was handed a 24-month community order, which included 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days and a 90-day programme on sexual offending. He was also placed on the sex offenders register for five years.
