MARZENA KLIMEK AND ZBIGNIEW PUZIAK FROM TOLLADINE IN WORCESTER CONVICTED OF CRUELTY TO DOBERMAN JACK

In a recent court ruling, Polish nationals Marzena Klimek, born around 1982, and Zbigniew Puziak, born approximately in 1965, both residents of 57 Rose Avenue, Tolladine, Worcester WR4 9PX, have been found guilty of inflicting severe injuries on a Doberman named Jack. The incident, which took place between February 17 and February 26, 2022, involved multiple non-accidental injuries inflicted upon the dog, with the couple failing to seek necessary veterinary treatment for the animal's wounds.

Authorities established that Klimek and Puziak, who are also known to operate as backyard breeders advertising Doberman puppies online, neglected their responsibilities towards Jack. They denied causing suffering through their inaction, claiming they did not intentionally harm the dog but were responsible for failing to prevent the injuries. The court found that their neglect and failure to act constituted causing unnecessary suffering to the animal.

Despite the severity of the injuries, Jack survived the ordeal. The RSPCA has taken custody of the dog, ensuring he will receive proper care and attention moving forward. The case highlights the ongoing issues of animal cruelty and irresponsible breeding practices associated with backyard breeders in the Tolladine area.

In sentencing, the court imposed a 12-week custodial sentence for each of the offences, to be served concurrently, with the sentences suspended for 12 months. Additionally, Klimek and Puziak are required to complete 140 hours of unpaid work over the course of a year. They were also ordered to pay £2,000 in costs and a £154 victim surcharge. Furthermore, they face a lifetime ban from owning animals, although they have the right to appeal after just five years.

This case underscores the importance of animal welfare laws and the need for vigilance against neglect and cruelty, especially among those involved in breeding and pet ownership in Worcester and beyond.
