MARTYN ROOTS FROM BEDFORD AND PUTNEY HILL SENTENCED FOR 317 INDECENT IMAGES

In a recent court hearing held at Bedford Magistrates' Court, Martyn Roots, aged 42, faced serious charges related to the possession of a significant number of indecent images of children. The case drew considerable attention due to the disturbing nature of the evidence and the implications for community safety.

Roots was arrested after authorities uncovered a total of 317 indecent images stored on his computer. The investigation was initiated following a prior incident where Roots had been cautioned for sending inappropriate messages to a teenage girl from Bedford. This previous caution prompted police to confiscate his computer, which subsequently revealed the disturbing collection of images.

At the time of his arrest, Roots was residing with his mother in Bedford. However, he has since moved to Putney Hill in London. During the court proceedings, Roots pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him, acknowledging his involvement with the indecent images.

As part of his sentencing, Roots was handed a two-year community order. This order requires him to actively participate in a sex offender treatment programme, aimed at addressing his behaviour and preventing future offences. Additionally, he is mandated to complete 100 hours of unpaid community service and attend a specialized alcohol treatment service, reflecting the court’s concern over his overall conduct.

Furthermore, Roots is subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order, which imposes restrictions on his activities and interactions to protect the community. His computers have been confiscated and subsequently destroyed to prevent any further misuse or possession of illegal material.
