BRIGHTON GYM EMPLOYEE MARTIN O’HARA CONVICTED OF SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST TEENAGERS IN WEST SUSSEX

A man employed at a gym in Brighton has been found guilty of committing serious sexual offences against three teenage girls over a span of several years in West Sussex. Martin O’Hara, aged 50, faced a lengthy and detailed trial at Brighton Crown Court, where the jury convicted him of multiple counts of indecent assault.

The court proceedings revealed that the assaults occurred between the years 1993 and 2001, a period during which the victims, now adults, endured not only the physical violations but also ongoing psychological trauma. Some of the victims have spoken about the lasting emotional scars left by O’Hara’s actions, highlighting the profound and enduring impact of his crimes.

The court heard evidence from the victims, who recounted their experiences and the ways in which the abuse affected their lives long after the incidents. The case drew significant attention due to the length of time over which the offences took place and the vulnerability of the young girls involved.

Following the conviction, Martin O’Hara is scheduled to be sentenced in the near future. As part of the legal process, he will also be required to register as a sex offender, a measure intended to monitor and prevent further offences. The case underscores the importance of justice for victims of sexual abuse and the ongoing efforts to address such crimes within the community of Brighton and the wider West Sussex area.
