NOTTINGHAM MAN SENTENCED FOR PERSISTENT STALKING AND CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A man from Nottingham turned out to be Martin Jacks, who engaged in relentless stalking of his ex-partner following their breakup.
Nottingham Crown Court heard how he bombarded her with hundreds of texts, calls, and messages over several weeks.
He also parked outside her home, followed her to a dog grooming parlour in Mapperley, and turned up at the Queen’s Medical Centre where she worked.
After being reported to police, he was arrested at his Bilborough home where cocaine and cannabis were found.
Despite being bailed not to contact her, Jacks continued his harassment, causing her significant distress and fear.
He sent her a message claiming he was outside QMC, and on October 15 he was outside her address.
On October 17, he followed her to her dog groomer’s and tried to give her a birthday card.
The following day, on her birthday, he sent her an image of many tablets threatening to kill himself.
He was later rearrested after damaging her car at the Moor Bridge park and ride tram stop in Bestwood.
The victim described her ordeal, saying “He made my life hell,” and that she felt scared to go out because she believed he was watching her.
Jacks pleaded guilty to stalking, criminal damage, and possession of cocaine and cannabis.
He has a criminal record with eight previous court appearances for 23 offences, including a six-month jail sentence in 2022 for fraud.
The judge sentenced Jacks to a 12-month prison term suspended for 18 months, ordered him to attend 30 rehabilitation sessions, and imposed a 10-year restraining order not to contact the victim, along with £200 compensation for damage to her car.
